Rich in culture, colour and natural beauty, Peru is a country known for its ancient civilisations, vibrant traditions and world-famous cuisine, offering a deep sense of history and connection to the landscape woven into everyday life.
At the heart of the country lies the Sacred Valley, once the spiritual and agricultural centre of the Tahuantinsuyo (Inca Empire), where dramatic mountain landscapes surround ancient ruins and traditional villages.
Located at 2900m above sea level and 32 kms from Cusco, the Sacred Valley is fed by the Vilcanota River which flows from the Andes mountain range glaciers.
The valley features some of Peru’s most fertile lands, a wide range of flora and fauna including Condors, hummingbirds and many different orchids, and one of the most complete views of the Andean peaks.
Today, the Sacred Valley has become a world-class destination for mountain biking, drawing riders from across the globe to it’s rugged high-altitude trails, long sweeping descents and unforgettable scenery.
The riding here is unlike anywhere else on earth.
Ancient stone pathways, carved into the mountainsides centuries ago by the Inca civilisation, now guide us through the rugged terrain, our tyres tracing the footsteps of the Inca along forgotten trails.
We’ve put together a trip working with locals who live and breathe this valley and the riding within it, passionate about developing opportunities to share their beautiful home with guests from around the world.
In addition the team here are part of a local non profit organisation who work to connect local communities through trail advocacy, preservation, and sustainable development.
The organisation aims to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the region, create jobs, encourage sports, and improve quality of life for residents.
Challenging and deeply immersive, every route we take through this spectacular area combines adventure with a powerful connection to Peru’s rich heritage and extraordinary natural landscape, giving us a rare opportunity to experience this magical place by bike.
Trip Information
On arrival day in Cusco, you’ll take a private shuttle to a hotel in the city, where there’ll be chance to meet the group, and recover from long flights and time differences. For those who wish, we’ll take a leisurely wander around the vibrant city, exploring colourful markets, winding streets full of artisan stores, and stopping to sample delicious food and coffee. It’s a great way to start the trip and to start acclimatising to the thin air (Cusco is at an altitude of 3399m!).
The following day we’ll travel the one hour scenic drive to the Sacred Valley and our base. Our accommodation for the trip is a fantastic and well-equipped lodge nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, lush gardens, and tranquil rivers, it’s an ideal place to unwind after a day on the trails, and is the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
The rooms are cosy and well-designed, and sunny terraces allow you to look out at the mountains all around. The lodge has an on-site pump track, bike workshop and washing facilities, making it a fantastic base for us to relax at and explore from each day.
You’ll experience the warmth of Andean hospitality and savour delicious meals cooked by a private chef, that celebrate the rich flavours of local cuisine. Each day will begin with a hearty breakfast to fuel us for the day’s explorations.
We spend 6 days of the trip riding, exploring each day in a different direction from our base. There will generally be at least two guides on your trip, a local guide as well as an Endless Trails MTB representative. Shuttles will help us gain most of our height, as pedalling in these altitudes is hard, but there will be a few short climbs (which we’ll take very steady!).
Mid-week we’ll have a non-riding day, where we’ll take a transfer to the charming town of Pisac, just a 25-minute drive from the lodge, at the gateway to one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting to lead us on an unforgettable two-hour downhill hike through the spectacular Inca city of Pisac. As you descend along ancient stone paths, you’ll explore intricate agricultural terraces, ceremonial sites, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the valley below. Along the way, we’ll gain insights into the history, engineering, and spiritual significance of this remarkable place.
Our final day will see us return to Cusco and the airport for onward travel. We appreciate some guests will want to extend their trip after travelling a significant distance to get here, and the options to do so from Cusco are extensive.
Expect temperatures ranging from 25–30°C in the valleys to 5–15°C at higher altitudes. Riders should be prepared for the possibility of rain.
A trip to South America for most of us is a Big Trip, and because of the travel time, and time difference, we’ve planned a 9 day, 8 night trip, slightly longer than our European tours, to allow for just as much riding, but some time to be able to settle in and make the most of this wonderful place.
Highlights
We’ll enjoy a wander around the fascinating and vibrant city of Cusco, where lively marketplaces full of colourful fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices line the streets. With the chance to try delicious local delicacies, visit Incan temples, and wander down narrow winding streets, its a great place to find cafes where we can relax and soak up the atmosphere before we travel to the Sacred Valley.
We’ll have Shuttle-assisted rides that feature exhilarating descents (averaging 1,550 meters/4,900 feet per day), challenging climbs at high altitudes, technical sections, and fast-paced “Peruvian Flow” segments. The riding experience in Peru is truly unparalleled.
We’ll ride trails that take us through traditional villages, past old salt mines and stunning scenery, stopping for lunch in beautiful gardens, and local houses where you’ll experience rural Peruvian life.
We’ll ride trails that have hosted the highest Enduro races of the World!
We’ll spend a mid-week rest day exploring one of the most impressive Incan archeological sites in the Sacred Valley, learning about the culture and history of this ancient civilisation, before enjoying time resting and relaxing at the Lodge.
We’ll eat delicious local food, cooked for us by a private chef at the lodge.
We’ll see Llamas, Condors, Hummingbirds, and many other different plant and animal/bird species.

Nico and Cente are not only mountain biking experts, but also storytellers, historians, and locals with a deep connection to the Andes. With years of experience navigating Peru’s most challenging and beautiful terrains, they ensure the safety and enjoyment of every rider.
Our guides are trained in basic first aid and, in the event of a serious injury, will coordinate helicopter search and rescue.
