Trip Information

We start and finish in the legendary mountain town of Chamonix, surrounded by the granite spires and glaciated peaks of the Mont Blanc massif, and from here spend 6 days working our way around Mont Blanc, passing through 3 different countries on the way. We mostly avoid the busy “classic” Tour du Mont Blanc route as it is simply too busy with walkers, but there are so many other incredible trails here that are among the most extraordinary in the Alps.

These are trails shaped by centuries of human movement and the raw power of the mountains themselves. Many of the paths we ride were originally carved by shepherds, traders, and pilgrims crossing between France, Switzerland, and Italy long before modern borders existed. Over time, these historic routes evolved into narrow, flowing ribbons of earth—perfect for mountain biking—contouring steep alpine slopes, traversing ancient forests, and linking remote high passes with traditional villages.

Today, they offer an unbeatable mix of natural technical riding, smooth forest flow, and high-mountain balcony trails, giving us as riders a unique chance to follow in the footsteps of generations while experiencing the terrain in the most exhilarating way possible.

We use uplifts to gain a significant proportion of our altitude each day without taking away from the sense of journey and adventure this trip has in abundance. We still have some climbing, however, the focus of this trip is very much about enjoying descending some of the best singletrack in the world.

Along the route, we stay in small, family-run and cosy hotels that are full of character and capture the charm and hospitality of each valley we pass through. These all offer a welcoming atmosphere after a big day on the trails, with comfortable beds, hot showers, and relaxed bars perfect for unwinding with a cold beer. Evening meals are always a highlight, with hearty, delicious meals made from local ingredients and a chance to share stories from the day.

Trip Highlights:

  • Leaving the Chamonix valley on a blend of fast alpine trails, flowing forest singletrack, and panoramic balcony routes as we descend towards the sun-soaked Martigny Valley and the Rhône at the start of our journey.

  • Staying atop the historic Grand Saint Bernard Pass. At 2,469m, this iconic col links Switzerland and Italy and offers some of the most dramatic terrain of the entire tour. Long, natural descents from here lead us into remote valleys with a true “big wilderness” feel as we roll into Italy.

  • Riding in one of Europe’s mountain-bike capitals; The Aosta Valley delivers steep, technical, gravity-fed trails mixed with fast, flowing sections through chestnut forests and ancient hamlets. With endless options, we tailor the day to the group’s energy, exploring a mix of classic lines and lesser-known local gems.

  • Riding on trails featured in the Enduro World Series in the mountain town of La Thuile, all with the epic backdrop of Mont Blanc, and a chance to finish with delicious Italian gelato

  • Traveling through the Tarentaise—home to exhilarating natural singletrack and a giant playground for enduro riders. Rugged alpine terrain, hike a bike climbs and big backcountry descents are in order here.

  • Riding iconic and dramatic ridgelines high above the Beaufortain. This region is a hidden gem—lush meadows, and a mix of smooth, satisfying singletrack and more technical challenges. All with a finish in a traditional mountain town at a family run hotel serving hearty mountain food.

  • Completing our journey with the perfect blend of alpine scenery and fun, varied riding as we roll triumphantly back into Chamonix and Celebrate an unforgettable week of world-class enduro riding beneath Europe’s highest peak!

Don’t just take our word for it!

To get an idea of what kind of adventure you’re in for, take a look at the video below, produced by Steel City Media when Orbea came to ride the route with us and make a story for their Trail Tales series.

What about E-Bikes?

After lots of requests, we ran our first E-bike specific version of the Mont Blanc Enduro Tour in 2023. It was a great week that worked really well and we’ve run the trip several times now to cater for the growing number of E-bikers who want to join our trips.

The trip uses the same hotels and a similar route as our popular and well-established MBE tour, modified for E-Bikes to allow rideable climbs, and even more descending than we can usually fit into the regular trip!

For riders who would like to join the regular trip but use an E-Bike, this can be possible, but there are a couple of unavoidable hike-a-bike trails where an E-bike could be a hindrance rather than a help! It’s worth getting in touch and we can chat with you to give you more information so you can decide if this is for you or not!

You’ll need to factor in driving or travelling by train to our start point in Chamonix as it is not possible to fly with an E-Bike battery currently. Although it is possible to rent bikes from one of the shops in Chamonix (this will be up to individuals to arrange personally).

All the regular trip information applies, including experience level and fitness to tackle long days in the mountains on physically demanding trails. Contact us if you want to chat about this!

We suggest an E-Bike with a 600-750Wh battery, but if you have a lightweight E-Bike with a range extender and good fitness this can work too! (We’ll be riding 45-55km per day with 800-1200m climbing to give you an idea of whether you’ll need this or not!). There won’t be an option to charge the batteries during the day, just overnight at each hotel.

If you’d like to enquire about arranging an E-Bike specific week on this trip then drop us a message and we’ll see what we can do!
